In
1957, Kuhlman Electric supported Jay G. Gates as he established
the Jay G. Gates Company, a representative firm to serve the
electric utility market. Jay was a Regional Sales Manager
with Kuhlman and represented them in southern Ohio and Kentucky.
John Commons joined the firm in 1972 and is currently president
and owner.
In May, 1989,
Jay G. Gates Company changed its name to ELUS Company. Our
engineering/sales team consists of John Commons, John Hebeler,
Chris Zaphiris, Greg Laneve, Brad Reigelsperger, Chris Tynan,
Cindy Greenwald, Harold Diedrich, Dave Bouchard, Jared Bassett,
George Slyman and Eric DiSalle. Our inside personnel are Patty
Brenneman, Karlene Sloan, Dottie Murdock, Louise Salvina,
Sandy Reed, Megan Bruewer, Carmen Carstens and Alison James.
Currently, most
of our salespeople are engineers. We feel this helps us relate
to some very technical people and products. It also aids in
our ability to convey technical questions to and from our
factories.
Our customer base
consists of the investor owned utilities, municipals, and
REA electrical systems throughout Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana
with limited manufacturer responsibility in Michigan and western
Pennsylvania. Our largest customer is American Electric Power
(including all operating companies). This takes us to these
states plus Virginia. In addition, we work through several
utility oriented distributors to serve our REA and municipal
customers.
Some
of our major lines include Thomas & Betts (Blackburn,
Elastimold and Joslyn Hi-Voltage), GE Lighting, Eaton Electrical,
Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Inc., Hendrix Wire &
Cable, Kerite Cable, Delta Star, Inc., and Areva T&D (Ritz
Instrument Transformers). |
